CLUB HISTORY

Carr Vale fc started off as Carr Vale Albion and when it was registered with the FA it was Carr Vale FC Albion. The Albion teams both men and ladies can be traced back to the war years and they used to play their football the other side of Sutton Lane they used have to get changed in Carr Vale hotel and walk down to the ground approx 1 mile, they then got permission to use the old brick yard canteen to change in. Later they used to use another pitch which was the other side of the river Doe Lea and also closer. Bill Bowman made some nets out of onion bags to fish the ball out of the river he also allowed the home team to get changed in his front room at the bottom of Scarsdale street. The people involved then looked at various sites to have a new football pitch and eventually settled on the North view street location and approached the farmer ( Eric Barfoot) to ask if it was possible to purchase the field. Nev Chapman - Roy Meades - Ted Chappell . was the three that convinced Eric Barfoot to sell them the field for football for £850. in 1962  august they was marking the pitch out while Fred Poole was cutting the hay off it The very first Goal scored on the new pitch was by Gordy Ellis.

With the new pitch marked out and in use they had to get somewhere for the players to get changed so they went to Clay Cross and purchased 2 railway wagons which was placed in the same same position as our lock up is today. Two year later they purchased the pavilion from Linconshire. They also built the stand of which Mansfield brewery gave some money towards as long as they had the brewery signs on it; they then got their own minibus. At the annual presentation which in the 60s was a dinner dance it was normal for Carr Vale to take two coaches from Flints the local bus company
